The 50 MW solar thermal powerplant Astexol is based on the EuroTrough design. The collector field consists of 112 Loops respectively 5,376 solar collector elements (SCEs).
More than 354 MW of electrical power are installed world-wide on the base of parabolic trough technology. The parabolic trough collector is the key component of solar thermal power plants of this type. A European consortium has developed, erected and tested a new cost effective lightweight collector (EuroTrough) as a prototype installation in Spain.
