Optimizing solar systems
At sbp sonne, we develop and implement our very own Solar Software to simulate and optimize photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP) systems. The software can also help to evaluate and improve buildings and climate covers. We combine the energy-perspective with structural and civil engineering simulations in e.g. Sofistik or Nastran.
The software simulates light, power and electricity and takes loads, yield and cost into account. Based on this knowledge, we design suitable and economically viable systems. Our tools allow us to design structures, simulate climate covers, calculate optical, thermal and electric performance. They also predict costs or control operation.
sbpRAY, the inhouse raytracer uses the GPU to quickly and accurately model the concentration of radiation in solar thermal powerplants. The software handles the 5-cornered Stellio heliostat as well as troughs and cavity receivers.
Furthermore, we use, compare and develop tools to diligently simulate the irradiance on mono- and bifacial photovoltaic modules. The tools cover fixed tilt and trackers, floating and agri-PV. The purpose is a yield and cost analysis that lets us create the most economical solution for our customers.
