First parabolic trough power plant in China goes into operation

The first large-scale commercial CSP project in China, the 50 MW Delingha parabolic trough power plant, was successfully commissioned on June 30. This makes China the eighth country in the world to have such a power plant. The project is therefore not only a decisive milestone for the project owner and developer CGN (Guangdong Nuclear Power), but also an important impulse for the Chinese and international CSP industry.

For the solar thermal power plant, which consists of a total of 190 loops or 9,120 individual trough collector elements, the sbp sonne EuroTrough technology was used. Therefore, sbp sonne was repeatedly on site during the past months to provide engineering support for the production and installation of the collector array. Our design was adapted to the Chinese standards in advance. Furthermore, the design of the collectors was adjusted to the special project conditions such as local wind loads, installation on sloping ground and the extremely low temperatures.

We congratulate all parties involved on the successful completion of the project.
