sbp sonne brings real-world experience into the classroom: Solar Energy Lecture Series at TU Berlin

For the past 15 years, the lecture series “Structures for the Utilization of Renewable Energies” has been an integral part of the Civil Engineering program at Technische Universität Berlin. Led by Prof. Dr. Mike Schlaich, the course aims to highlight the vital role of civil engineering in the field of renewable energy, with a particular focus on solar energy.

This interdisciplinary lecture series combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications, illustrating how concepts from civil engineering studies are applied in the solar energy sector. In addition to structural and civil engineering topics, the course also covers relevant subjects from related disciplines such as mechanical engineering, physics, and architecture.

A key benefit of the lecture series is its strong practical orientation, as the close collaboration with sbp sonne provides students with direct insight into both past and current solar technologies from the perspective of a civil engineer.
