sbp sonne at SolarPACES 2025: Insights into CSP Innovation

Just after EU PVSEC, global attention in the solar industry continues in Spain, extending from photovoltaics (PV) to concentrated solar power (CSP). From 23–26 September, the international CSP community will gather in Almería for SolarPACES 2025, a leading global conference on CSP and solar chemistry. sbp sonne is proud to contribute to this year’s program with two presentations showcasing our ongoing research and development in solar thermal technologies.

24 September – Solar collectors for 500+°C process heat
Fabian Gross will present a study focused on solar collector systems for industrial process heat above 500°C. The analysis compares parabolic troughs, heliostat fields, and PV-based solutions, evaluating their performance in terms of production profiles, storage integration, and levelized cost of heat (LCoH). The findings emphasize how specific industrial needs—such as continuous operation and land constraints—impact technology selection.

26 September – Learning Curve Effects in Chinese CSP Projects
Axel Schweitzer will share insights from large-scale CSP projects in China, examining how localization, supply chain improvements, and design optimization have driven cost reductions. The study demonstrates the role of accumulated experience in enhancing the competitiveness of CSP technologies.

Hosting SolarPACES in Almería – home to the renowned Plataforma Solar de Almería – underscores the strong connection between cutting-edge research and real-world application in solar thermal energy.

We look forward to engaging with the global CSP community and sharing our latest findings.
